Thread: [WoW Repack] MMOPro | World of Warcraft Cataclysm 4.3.4 Repack

This post is meant to dispel some of the exaggeration of the original post so that future downloaders will know exactly what they are getting into. Think of this as a fact-check. While this post is not meant to be a critique of the repack, it may contain honest observations for the relevant repack patch, Cataclysm 4.3.4, as well as clarity and/or honesty of the upload.

Please note that you should still support this repack and the author(s) for future updates, and you should feel encouraged to download the repack and try it for yourself. There has been a lot of good work put into this repack, and while I personally feel it may not have been great for someone looking to relive those Cata memories, it would be great for someone looking to get that instant 85 raid push with some friends.

• Most of the Zones are Working

False. Less than 30% of the zones are in working order. Even TBC and WOTLK zones aren't working in some cases. Nearly all core Cata zone content (core Cata zone content in this context refers to all zones changed in Cata (Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor), not the added zones) is in a total "as-is" state. Be prepared to use trinity commands to complete quests, spawn missing npcs, and travel to find a class trainer that actually works.

• Most of Spells are working
• Most of the talents are working
• Most of the classes are working

Allegedly True. Testing every spell takes a good amount of time. The spells that I did use for the classes I tested seemed to be in working order. Even some talents that normally have issues seem to be doing well in this repack. Note I did not test even half of the spells and talents available.

• Most of the Cataclysm content is working

False. Phasing is still broken, will probably never work in any private server, and as a result the majority of content is still very "as-is" even with the new Cata zones. The later Cata zones are, however, in better working condition than the early game zones. You can almost tell that the majority of work on this went into instance/raid and end game zones.

• All Battlegrounds / Arenas Working

Unknown. I did not test this, but I'm willing to bet they did some work here.

• New Structure with hot-fixes

Not entirely sure what was meant with this statement.

• Dungeons and Raids Working

False. (And probably a little bit of true toward end game) By 4.3.4 quest givers were found in the dungeon. None of them are there. In fact, none of the early Cata dungeons I visited have actually been Cata content at all. Almost none are scripted. I'd estimate less than 20% of 4.3.4 dungeons are in working order.

Probably, but I didn't bother going on to find out when I realized less than 50% of this repack is actually working as described.

Overall Score: 35/100
I had high hopes given the size of the update, but there's so much work to be done to the core of Cata still; that at this point Blizzard will release a classic version before these communities get a working version. A lot of the issues plaguing this repack are the same issues that have existed in the core for almost a decade now. If, for example, The Ruins of Andorhal hasn't been fixed YET, then it probably never will be. None of this is necessarily the fault of the repack. As a repack, you can have some great fun with it if you have experience running with Trinity. On the whole, if you're wanting to go from new character to end game solo or with some friends, you're going to have a LOT of problems, no matter what class, race, or faction you choose.
The repack is OK as far as Cataclysm repacks go. Thanks for your work and providing us with this repack.



Again, this is honesty mixed with opinion for the sake of clarity. Don't take my word at face value, try for yourself. I simply gave my observations and weighed them against the original claim.
