WOW !!, CT and i thought 0065 was large with, 458 queries 0066 was a major update with, 22774 queries, but it was successful no errors and server up and running great keep up the great work

Hi - can't wait to try this repack (use reaper trinity at mo).

Using the files from page 1 of this post - what updates will I require?
Will I have to find an install ALL of the CU_00xx.zip updates ONE AFTER THE OTHER or JUST CU_0066.zip?

Just download CU66 from the link and when you extract it and do the database updates there will be a update for 1-66_ALL (or something along those lines) and you'll just have to inject that vs individually. You will also have that type of sql file for the other database tables, so scriptdev and characters.

Couple of things . . .

First - thanks to Cthulu. This was fairly easy thanks to the work you've put in.

Next - moving my old characters tele points et al to the new framework.
I'll add my database version (17 UDB 381 for Trinity).
Is there a straightforward method that works?
It sho would be good to have them come with to this better brighter client/server!

My os is puppy linux tipsy nvidia with compiz / wine and vmware player.

I play 4 client hands under WINE at 800x600 on a 1600x1200 screen.
The server (currently Reaper / Trinity) runs under a vm of winxp on the same box.

Its really slick & pretty BUT...

I have BAD probs controlling 4 hands at once and would like to use an old addon called Fightback 103 - see:
Fight Back - World of Warcraft Mods (http://www.warcraft-mods.com/Fightback.html)

The idea is that characters fight back automatically if attacked.
Ideally chase off after monsters that run away.
And use their abilities too a bit would b good (while I'm "asking the earth" Đ 2010 )!

As a start, Fightback refuses to fight back.

I would like to patch the 313 or 335a client in order to alllow execution of any LUA.
This might allow some of the older addons to function.
Can it be fixed or do I get to keep both halves!?
Has anyone used this addon?
Has anyone tried this addon?
How do I find out what client version was it designed for?
What client ver were you on?
Any ideas?

Any help would b cool!

Lastly - anyone remember syndicate wars (OLD)?
Would like to be able to line up mobs in battle formations and fight vs other players....
(Big ask there).

As far as tele points, if you could upload a dump of the database portion that controls them I'll be able to figure out the format.

As I'm trying to keep the repack as Blizz-like as possible I wouldn't be able to add battle formations, etc.

MaNGOS does not support LUA as the scripting is done in the core and scriptdev2.

As far as 3D desktops, you can also download Madotate (http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/01/13/enable-3d-desktop-in-windows-xp-95-98-me-and-2000-with-madotate/) which does the same thing.

hehehe yeah I tried 360desktop madotate and others but they're just funny compared to compiz under linux!
Among other things compiz runs a window decorator that can be switched off = no window titlebars and borders.
Further it is real good at distributing processing power evenly accross apps = smooth game on all 4 clients and three win vm's (2 warcraft servers now + web service vm running wifidog postgres apache)

If you've not seen compiz running check utube . . . .

I'm going to run the updates you've provided over the weekend (up to date mangos who'd of thought!)

I'm also toying with the Eve emulator at evemu.org
They've made real progress but still nothing ready to play

I don't quite understand what you mean by scaling for your pet, but my Spirit Beast when freshly tamed (level 75), has 10.2k HP, when I level it to 80, it becomes 12.5k without any pet talents. As I don't play hunter on live, can't tell you if that's right or not, but it wouldn't matter as this is an emulator and not Live WoW, so some faulty scaling is expected.

ya my hunter on retail has more then that, i was just asking, im aware its an emulator i was merely just tryin to bring it to CT's attention if he was not tracking. thanks for the info :D

EDIT : you said 10.2k but when i tame Loque'nahak he only has like 6k life.. weird.

hey brother it wont let me PM you cause im still a lazy leecher. but i did what you told me to do. and the spirit beast you told me to spawn and tame. well it only has 841 health when i tame it thats at lvl 75. :( thanks alot for the help

What he mean is that the pets are not getting the bonus from Stamina, Attack power and everthing that should give more points to the pet...i already told this to CT :) it only gives +1 to the stats even if you have 20 or 40 bonus (just an example)...and this happens to Hunter pets and Warlock too.

This, and also i dunno whats happening but when i tame a low level creature the health is zomg terrible.. like i tamed a lvl 2 boar and it had 841 life at lvl 75..

I just went and tamed a level 5 boar outside of Kharanos..when I used .npc tame on it, it came to me with 10.2k HP at level 75. Pic in a moment.

EDIT2: I went ahead and used the legitimate way of taming a creature via the tame beast spell, and it too brought the beast back to me with 10.2k HP.

Things I Noticed
================

1. In the Black Rock Mountain, the Orb of Command does not work even after the quests and pre requisites were completed.
2. Within the Black Wing Lair, most creatures' loots were not dropped.

Haven't tested all of the dungeons and raids before WOTLK and I'm sure you're busy with more major issues like pet taming problems and the rest of WOTLK scripts. But hope you can come around with these that would make the repack more blizzlike.

Ok i understand that you have all the talents selected and with that yes you gain more HP on the pet but do you get the bonus like it should be...? because the other problem is solved when you get the talents points on the right place but not the bonus from your character...and that would give a great boost to the pet :) not only for HP but also for damage ;)

Created a new character, didn't give it any talents at all, and just tamed a level 5 boar again outside of Kharanos..it became my pet with 5k HP, still cannot reproduce the problem.

i guess weīre talking about diferent things...i ask you one thing and you answered me other...weīre failing to communicate i guess...
Iīm asking you if you have the bonus on your pets...not that thing about lvl 5 pets that donīt have enough HP...tame a pet and in the pet window move the mouse over the stamina and take a shot to see the bonus that the pet has...and place it here...ok...?
If you have the total bonus that your character should give to the pet well you should talk with CT so that feature become available to all ppl in the updates...

If you were using the pet related SQL mods that I released in the Mangos SQL section of the forum than that may be the problem. I accidentally made an incorrect calculation for the HP levels for all pets and it made them very low. This could possibly explain why you are having the problem and others are not. I released a corrected SQL query for it but since your DB was already effected you will want to wipe the DB and start it new again.

All this assumes you downloaded and ran that query. I may be wrong but there is a good chance this is what happened.

If you did change any DB related to this repack beyond the original default data than it would not be appropriate to report the problem of your modified DB on this thread.

Great work, love your repack. My family and friends enjoy playing on it. I was checking the mangos forum for information on 4.0.1 and noticed that there have been updates to Ahbot. Can you patch and compile the latest version into your repack if possible? Looks like the best addition, besides bug fixes, is that you don't need a character anymore.

These are the two "major" changes, there are a couple other tweeks also. Open your original conf file and the new one side by side and review line by line, you will see the minor tweeks to a couple of the lines.

Enable by default vmap.enableHeight and vmap.enableLOS.

I know that this will sound very stupid but can anyone tell me how do i apply the new pacth?? i have the 4 parts of the patch and i only have one installer (for the 4th part of the pacth) and then i have the installer of the upgrade for patch 4.0 (the one that is only available through the launcher)...but what do i do with the 3 files NA-stage 1 stage 2 and stage 3??? they have no extension so what should i do...? i have no internet where i have the files :( thats why i ask this...

Just wanted to give something back . . .

Those who really want to install to any drive other than C:\ could use Winbolic Link (see screener / google).
This will allow the use of a little known (no client tool built into windows) NTFS feature called junctions (similar to simlinks in linux).

READ THE HELP FILES FIRST as it is possible to create infinite loops which will make things bad!

@zap2012: I noticed you gave your UDB version, but could you tell me what your characters' db version is?

As far as tele points, if you could upload a dump of the database portion that controls them I'll be able to figure out the format.



I've looked carefully at my characters database and there seems to be no DB version number.
Waaa!

So I've decided to manually add the accounts and characters, merge the data between the new and the old database (there are lots of major diffs) and GM the characters back as far as I can, where there are probs.

If anyone has a better idea then I'm open to sugestions (although I'm half way thru at present)!

The thing that has stuffed me is not knowing the character database version, yes?
Because IF I did know the version it might be possible to follow some other upgrade path that might preserve the character data, yes?

I'll let u know how it turned out!

BTW there was only 1 diff in the teleport table - sorted and added my new telepoints with numbers from 9000 ->

That used to happen when one member of the party already done the raid or dungeon...did you enter the raid with the GM and then you play with the GM too?? if that happens then you know whats wrong...
If not the problem well dunno ;)

I happened to stumble across your repack by chance. I've spent the last 5 days installing repacks seeing which one would be the best and stable. This repack is by far the most AMAZING I have used. It almost feels like I'm really playing on a blizzard server the way npcs are spawned and move around, and with the ahbot its even better. I've seen a few minor bugs and only one critical bug so far. I learn the abilities of a character from the trainer, play awhile then log out, come back on later and half of the abilities that I had are gone. is there a spell check or something I can disable or could you disable it in the .cpp on next release? Again great work I will look forward to future updates.

I have never seen this happen unless you are using non-blizzlike spells like learning all talents or using over 71 talent points, etc. I have never recreated your problem, I have been playing the Uber Prot Paladin that I created in the first post of this topic for a while and have not seen this happen at all.

ah ok. I am not using any other spells other then what I learned from the trainer. I am however using x2 talents. I'll adjust back to the original and see if that fixes it.

Try clearing the cache on your wow client software especially after you do any significant changes to the server. The cache files refer back to the way the server worked before any changes were applied so sometimes this can cause some strange things to happen depending on what type of changes were done.

Since I do many changes to the mangos DB I have to clear my cache often between each round of testing I do just to make sure I get accurate performance results.

The cache files are located at \World of Warcraft\Cache\WDB\enUS and they can be safely deleted when the client software is not running as new ones are created when the software runs again.

Also delete any character accounts that were deleted in game as the client software still keeps some data from each one even after they are deleted. On some occasions I have had strange things happen when I created a new character with the same name as one I deleted previously because I did not clear out that old data before reusing the name on a new character. The account data is located at \World of Warcraft\WTF\Account

Make sure you do any deletions when the client software is NOT running.

I had some problems because of that...but with me they wonīt go away :( sometimes i cannot pass trough doors and my pets donīt regenerate HP...but i know now that is a problem with the game...not the server...maybe because its a 64bits computer and its freaking out...i dunno but iīm happy the server works fine :)

Hi again!

OK. Our characters have made it onto Mangos!

Couple of problems tho.

The main problem is server slowdown in instances.

The moment any character walks into an instance the server, which runs on a VMWARE VM, starts to show high load.

With two players in an instance the server load is 100%, and with four players in an instance the server is unable to keep up - lag, poor performance et al. Totally unplayable.

Stand everyone outside instances - server load goes back down to 1% !

Seems to happen in any instance we look into.

Initially I thought I'd cocked the installation of my old characters, so whent back to a clean, default install of mangos, and was suprised to find the same thing happening.

I started with update 66 and am now at 72, but still the same.

The only differences I can see between my install and the recommended set up:
1) Use of NTFS junction to redirect C:\Server -> D:\Server - completely transparent to OS and works with everything else I've tried it with. I'm stuck with this due to technical limits on my server (linux accessing files > 2gb on NTFS partition.)
2) No VMAPS. When I tried to set up vmaps I came up with an error, so skipped them.
I spotted a post early in this thread re. another vmap tool (I used update 66's vmap extractor first time round am trying CU_0071 tools folder today.
3) My client version is enGB rather than enUS.

Can anyone tell me what I have done wrong or why this is happening?

Would really love to have this sorted so I can get back to playing rather than puzzling over the software.


LATER. . . . .

OK. Moved the server to a "real" machine and things are better. MC still shows a high load when peeps are in instances but there are only a few players here and the box MANGOS is on can well keep up so I suppose this is fixed for the mo.

Can't help wondering why the VM threw a funny. I've been playing other servers for two years and this is the first time I've seen anything like it.

Nothing on the mangos forum either.

I kind of suspect it's down to software/virtualised network card. . . .

On the plus side, I love the new server when it's running right.

All sorts of things seem to be fixed vs my old core and that's called progress so well done CTH.

Just to check one thing to see if it is the computer freaking out again...the quests in Arathi Highlands (the one of the crystal that you need to get the 3 elemental keys) and on Stranglethorn Vale (the one of the cauldron on the GromīGol Base Camp) have been removed from game...?? because i canīt get them anywhere :(
The one of the crystal you should get it on the big Crystal near Hammerfall and the other on the cauldron on the base camp...but when you click on them nothing happens or the quest sign shows on them...well like i said its just to check out if this is normal or its my computer again...

Really liking the repack but having trouble getting the ahbot to come back to life. Had it working for a bit a couple of versions ago but not sure what the settings I had then were and it's related to them or what...

I'm not seeing anything in the mangos startup about the ahbot.. just the section on loading auctions, does that mean it's not being loaded at all?

Any help appreciated.. also any info on how often the ahbot is meant to activate and if there is a manual way of forcing a cycle that would also be great to know.

Hey there, first time user of a repack.

I got he server running and everything right off the install, however it doesn't seem to have AHBot installed... When I go to the database, the character.auctionhousebot table does not exist.

I tried running the accumulative updates, it added the table, but now Mangos won't boot.

WHat exactly is needed on this fresh install to make AHBot run without killing mangos?

Does the server need to be up for a certain amount of time before the ahbot activates now? From memory when it was working it first populated the auction hour upon boot up and outputted some messages.

the auctionhousebot is the table that I have been putting the custom settings, the auction table is the one where I previously had auctions but now since my testing is empty. I don't have an auctionhouse table at all. Just did a new test install of Server_TRM335a + CU_0073 and it didn't create that table. Maybe this is the one that's causing me grief. What is in the auctionhouse table on your server and if it is small is it possible to post a sql dump of structure or structure & data?

Edit: Actually it looks like auctionhouse is the old name of the auction table. Checked the sql structure of the current db at git and it's not there though it's still listed on the wiki. Looks like a recent change. Maybe this is not my problem :|

Edit2: In case it was an issue with the data I brought over from a different repack I tried from scratch but still had no luck. I'm pretty sure the first time I saw it working it populated the auctionhouse right at the startup of mangod. So unless I was mistaken or that has been changed then it's not just cause I am not letting it run long enough.

Can someone tell me if I have missed something with the following steps?


moved previous server directory
extracted Server_TRM335a to c:/server and started up mysql
updated with CU_0073 (replaced manges x64 and executed the sql updates using sqlyog)
moved the dbc/maps/vmaps directories across and started mangosd and reamld (x64)
created an ahbot account (ussing .account create & set addon / set gmlevel)
logged on, created a character, logged in with the character then quit (sqlyog shows it to be character 1, account 5)

Modified mangosd.conf (from the CU_0073 template)

AuctionHouseBot.EnableSeller = 1
AuctionHouseBot.EnableBuyer = 1
AuctionHouseBot.Account = 5
AuctionHouseBot.GUID = 1

set minitems and maxitems to 1000 for alliance, horde and neutral records in auctionhousebot table using sqlyog

restarted mangos but still didn't see any messages about ahbot in the console up
checked using sqlyog and the auction table still not populated

Easiest way would be to just copy the entire server directory.
Next easiest would be to just copy the MySQL directory (also a lot smaller without the maps, dbc and vmap directories)
Last would be to use sqlyog and use the backup functions there to create sql dumps of the tables.

If you only do a partial backup make sure you reinstall them back to the same version of the server or make sure you know how to update the tables to match a later version.

This issues is on the UDB/YTDB forums as a known issue. It hasn't been assigned to be fixed as of yet. I am sure it will need some core side corrections along with database from what I read. Just to let you know it is a known issue.

Thanks for ya advice wjcb1975 but from what others say it sounds like the issue is that the ahbot has not been compiled in CU_0073, I'm happy to wait till the next update and give that a go.

The character guid and account are one of the few things that I know have always been set the same way from before when it was working. I understand in some of the later builds of ahbot (the development tree) that you don't even need a dedicated account and character. However not sure if CT is planning to use that or the more stable release. I really don't mind - just be happy to have it back without the effort of compiling it myself :)

in the update folder there is an sql called mangos 0000-0074 sql, characters all sql and script dev 2 all sql these are the ones you use for a fresh install of the repack

FYI

No fault to Cthulhu Ftagn at all on his great work with this repack but on a side note...

Due to the change to the Mangos DB with the new "RequiredClasses" and "RequiredSkill" columns in the "quest_template" table, the current version of Quice DB tool is not able to properly handle quest data.

I don't see a fix for this (other than the developer of Quice updating this very useful program) but if anyone knows a workaround for this please let me know.

Edit: I checked the battlegrounds and they work fine (the timer works fine for me...) and the training dummy still not work :( they follow you everywhere...
One thing i found bugged its the Alchemy Mixology...you should get an increase on the time duration of the potions and elixirs you make but thatīs not working :( can anyone confirm this and fix it or its a known bug and there is no fix yet...?

A quick fix to avoid the problem would be to edit the database so that the training dummy is not attackable.

You are correct in that doing what I suggested would make the training dummy useless but since the problem is still there it probably would be best to make them inactive until a fix is done.

I disable a number of things that do not work right since Mangos has issues on certain things or the DB is not fully developed but this is to be expected as everything is a work in progress.

Just to check out one thing...when i get the boat from Stormwind to Theramore Isle i always fall down on the sea and the boat disappears...can anyone confirm this please...? or this is a known bug...?
Other thing in Dustwallow Marsh the quest Discrediting the Deserters (http://www.wowhead.com/quest=11133) is not working :( after you beat down the guy he should follow you i guess but that donīt happen...

Thanks alot for the repack man, I've been reading through the comments and am excited to try it out for myself. I have been away from wow for a few months so currently my wow is patching itself, but I have already downloaded your server. Being anxious i wanted to see if it'll start while I'm waiting for the patching to drag on, and when I try to start the logonserver and world they both give this error,

I know I am jumping ahead, will this problem be fixed once my wow is patched and i create the maps? I do have the server folder under my C-drive. Also .net frame is still installing on my computer atm, but the one you linked wouldn't even start to install i had to get the latest version.

you need to go back to the first page and download the maps and dbc then the v-maps also and depending on which system you are using 32 bit or 64 bit, once you unzip them put them in the respective folder, then read and follow the instructions on the first page again, then retry booting your server again.

I'll be sure to do that, thanks alot man. Curently I have the maps downloading, and when I clicked the vmaps link it didn't exist anymore. So far i have downloaded the server (cu_79) and the maps are inc, is that all I need?

Aright, I just had my maps/dbc finish downloading and upon trying to extract them into my x64 folder my winrar says the archives are an unknown format or damaged, should I just re-download them or..? (http://mmopro.net/forums/members/grandpajohn/)

I believe the VMAPS are necessary.. Otherwise mobs will see you through walls and other map anomalies will happen.

I was hoping to leave the existing server up. Get everything up and running, upgrade the clients and import the characters over, but I noticed on the first page someone else had to do some things to the databases first.

I got it up and running, I was missing one of the updates which was luckily in the code you had given another person on the second page.
I have everything up and running, well except for the web page part (getting the remove the old-passwords flag) but that was because I already had php/mysql/apache installed and didn't want to screw things up.

Ha! I found out the problem I had with ahbot.
Set your max/min in the database, then set your items per cycle in mangos.conf.

Thank you again for the update, without it, I'd never get started and poke around.

I was wondering if anyone else noticed these items :
Arcane Potency - Increases the critical strike chance of your next damaging spell by 15% after gaining Clearcasting or Presence of Mind. Instead of giving me a temporary buff the 15% critical chance is remiaining constantly. It stays until I cast Presence of Mind which removes the buff.
Arcane missle graphics aren't playing unless the mob is directly adjacent to me and usually shoots of in a random direction.

Edit Sorry I keep answering my questions after some research, I should really just keep my mouth shut for a while and then ask.
The Arcane issues are listed as open tickets on getmangos.

For those who use Quice...

Looks like the recent change in the `creature_template` table has caused the current version of Quice to not properly process changes under the creature tab in the software. I submitted this to the developer of Quice so hopefully an update will be available soon.

Anyone else having issues with mobs in Darkshire, ZG entrance, booty bay where they come to you but don't attack? Then you can backup with a ranged weapon and easily kill them. Once dead they warp back where they spawned from?

I have level 19 toons on my server going to the ZG entrance and killing the elites there...

My girlfriend is having that problem in Tanaris :

I teleported to town using the .goname command which removed me from combat. So, then I mounted up and ran back out to finish my quest. Along the way I saw a mine so I dismounted, began to mine, and a mob came up and started attacking me. I killed the mob, but again it wouldn't let me leave combat. I used the .combat command to remove myself from combat and then a little further down the road I dismounted to mine again. I attacked a mob but instead of dealing damage the mob ran at me, then ran past me, and then stopped. The mob stood still and I was unable to kill it. I was locked in combat again so I logged out and logged back in to find I was dead.

I just reboot the server and seems to reset whatever invisible mob is attacking her

What's the location and mob so I can test this. I want to see if anyone has the issues I have with my mobs. ZG and duskwood. These worked before. I believe it was a recent update that messed em up.

No location specifically, she was just around Tanaris and also in the pirate cove area farming for pirate hats.
Oh, I forgot to mention she wanted me to tell CT this also : "Thank you for the hard work you put into this, it is really appreciated."

Well I went back to update 79, just copied over my characters and realmd and now everything is fixed. Afraid to update because I think 81 caused all the issues.

Very Impressive. However, I must add that he hasnt won yet. Look at his "Death from Hogger" stats, it is still 0. You cant beat WoW, unless you have died to Hogger at least twice!

Turn right coming out of Stormwind, and keep going until you are reach the guard towers by the bridge that leads towards the zone that the Dead Mines are in. Keep going straight, and you will see a bunch of gnolls, when you get close to where the land stops and is surrounded by creeks, you will see Hogger prancing about.

Been out of the WoW server scene for over a year, happened across this, got it up and running in 20 minutes, took longer to get my WoW client set up at 3.3.5a, lol.

Thanks for all the hard work, this is all kinds of awesome, my 10 year old son is stoked to be able to play again.

Been gone a couple-o-days again... gonna compile an update today. As for those who are asking for playerBot and other non-Blizzlike addons, I'm sorry, but I like to keep things as Blizzlike as possible.

I can understand you, but im just playin with 4 -10 friends, we also want it as much blizzlike as possible. Could you not add playerbot anyway? you can set it in mangosd.conf on disabled as standard and people like me can easily enable the playerbot via mangosd.conf
please i love your repack but thats the only thing Im missin

Last time I added playerbot to a 3.3.5a installation the CPU usage went through the roof, even when it was disabled. As I cannot find a stable injection of playerbot, and, as I said, I'm keeping this blizzlike, it will not be included in the foreseeable future.

The mobs outside ZG in stranglethorn vale. Attack one and then backup. They won't follow you but instead stop.. Same with mobs in duskwood. Then hunter pets don't move and get stuck in Booty bay and possible other places. Again since 81 or so. if I redownload and use only my character/realm db back to 79 it works fine. but as soon as I update things get messed up. I've been running this repack since update 20 so pretty sure I know what I am doing.

I don't normally double-post, most of you now this... but I thought this was important enough to warrant it.

I went through my database with a fine tooth comb today and found a LOT (over 1200 errors), I have fixed them and completely redid both the scriptdev2 and mangos dbs and I believe I have fixed most, if not all, of the problems that have plagued a lot of you... This will require a completely different type of update, so I will be writing a little guide in a few moments that will show you how to update the two dbs without disrupting your accounts or characters.

To install this update, please follow the instructions below:

1. Close the MySQL.bat file. If you have installed MySQL as a service using the C:\Server\mysql\mysql_installservice.bat please double-click the mysql_uninstallservice.bat.

2. Go to the C:\Server\mysql\data folder and delete the mangos and scriptdev2 folders.

3. Copy the extracted mangos and scriptdev2 folders from the database_updates.zip to the C:\Server\mysql\data folder.

4. Restart the MySQL.bat file or reinstall the MySQL service.

The core update is installed just like all previous core updates.

This WILL not affect your characters or accounts but will impact any custom malls, etc which you have made.

Looks good CT. Got the database changed over no problem. Constant crash on mangosd.exe. But I am sure it is due to not having the core for this update yet. (Yes, I see its compiling.) Just figured I would toss this up for others, before they freak out, in case they do the db before the core. Many, many, many thanks for all your hard work and fixes and attention to detail. Hope you and yours have a safe a terrific holiday this coming week! Thanks again for everything. Will let you know if I have any issues once core TRM 84 is released.
